Design in Details

CLA were appointed by Network Rail to provide specialist structural advice and design on the new proposed shopping areas within the boundary of Euston Station.

Detailed consideration was needed due to the presence of underground trains, live electrical and mechanical plant and the constant movement of large number of commuters.

Special shallow foundations that were able to resist constant vibrations and heavy loading were designed in accordance with guidelines and regulations imposed by Network Rail.

The superstructure was lightweight and flexible to withstand the high wind-loads that would constantly develop within the bounds of adjacent high-rise buildings.

The project was successfully delivered within budget and timescale, thus allowing several retail companies to occupy the premises and commence their fit-out in time for Christmas.
